How to Use Affirmation Cards

How to Use Affirmation Cards

As we settle into 2023, perhaps you are still searching for a solid New Years' resolution. After all, we are barely a week into the new year. Or maybe you don't get into the New Year's resolutions hype. Either way, it's always a good goal to build yourself up, especially when starting a new year. Daily affirmations and encouraging notes can help you to do just that. Here are a few tips breaking down how to add affirmations into your life effectively in 2023!

What are affirmations?

Before we go any further, it's important to establish what exactly affirmations are. Affirmations are phrases that you recite to yourself to reinforce a particular belief. Usually, these are meant to increase your self-confidence and get you into a positive mindset for the upcoming day.

If you've ever seen The Helpthe protagonist, Abileen Clark, repeats affirmations to her young charge, saying: "You is kind. You is smart. You is important." By repeating them over and over throughout the movie (and book), she is reinforcing these beliefs in the little girl's mind. Other examples include phrases like "I am enough" and "I am loved."

Essentially, affirmations are positive phrases that you repeat to yourself to mold your mindset into a better, more confident version of yourself.

What are affirmations beneficial for?

Affirmations are often used to build self-esteem, confidence, and improve your everyday life. If you struggle with early morning anxiety, feeling inadequate at work, or just need lifting up in general, then these could be for you! Sometimes, simply saying a few reassuring phrases out loud can do wonders for your mood and general outlook on life.

If you remain consistent in saying your affirmations, your thought patterns will change over time to include these ideas in your brain's schemas. In other words, you will begin to believe them and carry that newfound confidence into all areas of your life. For example, if one of your affirmations is "I am capable," you may begin to exude more confidence and self-assurance in the workplace which may lead you to a higher performance and increased belief in your own capabilities.

How can I add affirmations to my daily routine?

Now that you are familiar with what affirmations are and how they can improve your life, let's take a look at some easy ways to add them into your daily routine. However, while planning to build yourself up with affirmations is a great start, we all know that the best way to implement a new habit is to incorporate it into a daily routine so that it sticks. Although common knowledge has held that it takes roughly 21 consecutive days to form a solid habit, newer studies have shown that a new habit may take closer to 66 days to wholly form. Therefore, it is even more vital to create a routine to brighten your new year and make it easy to create your new affirmations habit!

Routine Ideas:

-Write your affirmations down and put them somewhere where you will frequently see them and be reminded to say them.

This could be a bathroom mirror, inside a drawer you open frequently, on the refrigerator, in your car or anywhere else.

-Start a habit tracker!

This is usually a physical sheet of paper where you can check off that you said your affirmations each day. A habit tracker can also be a good way to hold yourself accountable for other healthy habits you may be working to implement such as drinking enough water or exercising a certain number of times per week. -Get an accountability partner.

You might want to keep your affirmations private and that is completely up to you, but if you are comfortable with sharing your goals with another person, then that can be a great resource to maintain your consistency. Whether you say your affirmations in front of the other person or just check in with each other to make sure you are keeping up with your affirmations, this can be a great resource.

The important thing is that you see them every day and remind yourself to recite them out loud (rather than just reading them in your head). And yes, it does make a difference to say them out loud.

What are shower affirmations?

At Self-Care Shower, we offer several simple ways to seamlessly incorporate affirmations into everyday life! A new product that we are thrilled to offer are the Shower Self-Care Affirmation Cards!  This brand-new product offers you fifteen pre-made affirmation cards to inspire you.

The best part is that you can put them in your shower and other surfaces effortlessly because they adhere to surfaces when you add water! This means that you can easily switch out your affirmation cards without any damage to your shower walls or mirror or wherever you choose to put your affirmation cards.

Shower affirmation cards can help you naturally implement your affirmation habit into a consistent routine. After all, we all shower pretty frequently (or at least I hope we do), so placing affirmation cards in your shower allows you to speak your affirmations out loud while showering.

Additionally, the Self-Care Shower Affirmation Cards add a pleasing aesthetic to your shower and your affirmations. You have the option of putting one up at a time and periodically changing it out or adding multiple of the removable cards to your bathroom at the same time. The combinations are endless!

Don't forget that the Self-Care Shower Affirmation Cards can also make a great gift for that special someone who is hard to buy for. Let them know you're always thinking about them and want them to believe in themselves with this fun, thoughtful gift.
